PARSIPPANY, NJ December 21, 2005 — The Female Patient (TFP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Vivian M. Dickerson, MD, FACOG, as Editor-in-Chief, beginning in January 2006.

The journal’s current Editor-in-Chief, Thomas E. Nolan, MD, MBA, FACOG, is leaving the post after 14 years of service to the journal.

The appointment of Dr. Dickerson, who has served as an Associate Editor of TFP’s Advisory Board since 1999, follows a collaborative effort by Dr. Nolan; the journal’s Editorial Board; and Quadrant HealthCom Inc., the journal’s publisher, to continue the leadership of the journal into 2006 and beyond. Upon her appointment as Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Dickerson stated, “I am honored to be selected to carry on the traditions of excellence of Dr. Nolan. I look forward to continued growth and development of the journal while supporting the needs and interests of the readership.”

Tracey L. Giannouris, Editor, works closely with the Editor-in-Chief and anticipates Dr. Dickerson’s valuable contributions and insight. She noted “Dr. Dickerson is dedicated to fulfilling TFP’s mission to present cutting edge clinical information of the highest caliber to readers on conditions that are specific to or manifest themselves uniquely
in women.”

A graduate of the University of California, San Diego, Dr. Dickerson completed her OB/GYN residency at the University of California Los Angeles Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Dickerson is the Immediate Past President of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and was the first woman to ever serve as a District Chair of that organization. She just completed eight years as the Director of General OB-GYN at the University of California Irvine. Dr. Dickerson is a member of the Board of Directors of the Jacobs Institute for Women’s Health, and a past Chair of the California Family Health Council Board of Directors. She was recently elected as a Fellow of the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society. She has published widely on issues of obesity and heart disease in women and served on the Expert Steering Committee on Women and Heart Disease with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

In 2006, The Female Patient, a peer-reviewed journal, is entering into its 31st year of publication. Its circulation, comprised of highly productive prescribers that drive the female health market, includes the universe of obstetrician-gynecologists practicing in the United States, 12,000 primary care physicians, and 8,000 nurse practitioners — total circulation exceeds 61,000. The journal publishes review papers and case reports, together with a variety of series and departments. The journal’s web site is www.femalepatient.com.
